Lisa Deater is one of the lucky few. God has given her the opportunity to follow her dreams and passion. Lisa Deater not only paints in an array of medias but also sculpts. Coming into the gallery will allow you a unique experience to watch her use her God-given talents. She sculpts and paints in her sunroom at the Lisa Deater Gallery. While you watch her work, you will experience one-of-a-kind views of the National Park and you might even catch a playful river otter searching out food in the creek just feet outside her gallery windows.

Her paintings will take you through the creative, fun and sometimes wild wonderings of her vivid imaginations. When entering the gallery you will find traditional paintings done in the impressionist's style. Still yet the next wall holds the "Earth Color Series", a collection of work that evokes emotions and deep reflections in a painting style from traditional to abstract. You are then led into the next section of the gallery, see "Bunny Slippers", a large pink rabbit with a large behind prancing across the canvas, giving you a sample of Lisa’s fun and energetic side.

There is something very special about watching Lisa work with clay.  Her hands sculpt with the precision of a master, forming the clay into life-like sculptures.  Her sculptures are as varied as her paintings.  Ranging from a cowboy taming a spirited mount, to a frog reading a book to children, her sculptures awe and amaze.

"I am so fortunate to be working where I am.  There are so many talented artists in the Gatlinburg Arts and Crafts Community, and to be able to call them colleagues is a privilege.  God has truly blessed me with this talent and I am so thrilled to share it with others." Lisa Deater

Lisa Deater was born in New Hampshire, and moved to Michigan at age 12. Her artwork was impressive even at a young age catching the eye of her art teachers. When she married her husband, Don Deater, she helped support the family by creating crafts. Her artwork is juried and award winning. She has two children. Kellie age 24 and Chris age 19. Lisa is very proud of her son, currently serving in the United States Army.
